Day Four with the Links: Sweet Sixteen

The two wonderful people you know as Mike and Gwen Link are proud parents of four teenage daughters. As of yesterday, three of them age 16 and up. Wow. They are two really special people, especially, with my sisters and I being the four teenage daughters.

Day Four with the Links: Sweet Sixteen isn't really a day; it's a weekend. We don't really have big, blow-out parties around here, we just do our own style of partying for days on end. So this is how we celebrated Christina's 16th birthday all weekend long: (we did not go to Rivergate and eat out and go to the movies)
  1. We sat on the couch and watched Smallville
  2. I made some killer chicken penne pasta
  3. My Dad's truck broke down
  4. We sang at a benefit singing for my cousin's family
  5. We went to Pizza Hut at 8:30 at night with the cousins and Justin
  6. We harmonized a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday in Pizza Hut
  7. We gave her gifts including Fantasia, a calendar, mandolin tuning pegs, and a shirt
  8. We went to church
  9. We had a joint birthday party for her and my uncle Greg (who is not 48) at my grandparents house
  10. We watched more Smallville
  11. My sister Rebekah passed along the "16" key chain and necklace (which has now gone through six cousins)
  12. We went to Pizza Hut again
  13. We baked and cake and had it for dinner (nothing else.. besides ice cream of course)
  14. We watched more Smallville

Yeah.... the Smallville thing is getting a bit ridiculous, but honestly, it's okay. She had a really great birthday! Maybe some of this stuff doesn't sound like fun or like a really great way to spend your birthday, but I guess you had to be there. I mean, it's hard for me to include all the laughs, weird dances, and high pitched voices in my numerical list.
