In order to get into the holiday spirit, earlier I sat down to watch the movie "Elf" with my family. That movie is stinkin' hilarious, I must say. But tonight one of the scenes spurred an inspirational thought I thought I would share with you, the reader of my blog :)
You probably know the scene I'm talking about, its after the entire town has seen santa pull away in his sleigh, and their all singing "Santa Clause is Coming to Town." The news reporter comes on the screen and says, "Well people, we'll never know what we saw here this Christmas..."
I thought that was pretty funny. They saw Santa Clause pull away in his sleigh and STILL the news reporter said "We'll never know what we saw here..." I mean come on, REALLY??? They saw Santa and still wouldn't admit to it.
People are the exact same way about God. They see his works, they see the miracles he performs, and the evidence of his existance all around. And do they believe? No. And why not? They have every reason to!
So ask yourself this question: you've seen the evidence, do you believe?

Get Back on Your Bike!
Believe it or not, I like to exercise. I especially like to go to the gym and get on the stationary bike. Why? I have no idea, I mean I prefer the stationary bike to riding out of doors. I think its because it has this awesome little screen telling me how far I've biked and how many calories I've burned and how long it has taken me to do so. But that gets me in trouble.
You see, when I'm looking at the screen and keeping track of what I'm doing, I put limits on myself. For instance, I'll try to get to thirty minutes or 4 miles, or 500 calories, whatever I feel like, or most of the time whichever comes first, (trust me its never the 4 miles or 500 calories). But lately I've begun putting my book or my phone in front of the screen. If I'm on the elliptical, I'll change the settings so that I can't see how much I've accomplished. Why would I do this? Because now I just run or bike until I feel good about it, and, I've discovered, I always accomplish much much more than I do when I look at the screen.
Did you know if you wouldn't put limits on God, he would do things in your life that you could never ever possibly imagine?
OK, so I must admit, I'm not in the best shape. After a little while I start sweating and panting and everything else and I want to give up, but usually I look down at the clock and its only been 10 minutes. I mean what is that?!?!?! Its pathetic!!! The truth is we are all pathetic without God on our side. If we try to do things on our own we look at where we are and wonder why we're already so tired, we want to give up early in the game. After like, one week of working out, if I don't see results, I want to give up. But in reality do you really see results after one week? No!
We expect God to work things out for us exactly when we want them to work out, but is he going to do that? In some cases, maybe. But most of the time, there is a process we must go through. This process is life.
Unfortunately for us, we get into the habit of looking at the time, looking at how far we've come, seeing how much we've done, and we think we can just quit. But God has so much more planned for us and he knows exactly where we are going! Do we think he doesn't know how much work we've already done? He created that work! He created us!
In order to reach my fitness goals I have to get on that bike everyday and push myself to do my best. This is a direct correlation to our relationship with Jesus. Every single day we must get up and go about doing his work. In the end our prize will be much greater than we ever imagined.
